This Heinkel Tourist had been abandoned near my work place, after a few enquiries she was given to me on the understanding I'd give her a good seeing to, there were parts scattered all over the place, I estimate 80-90% all in a rusty and filthy state. The gauntlet had been laid, it was time to show my worth.......

Firstly I wanted to sort out the body work so I could get some idea of what she looked like. The elements had been cruel revealing extensive corrosion on basically everything. I'd never seen a Heinkel before and on first fitting the panels in their original condition I could'nt help but laugh, like an upturned bath, this scooter resembled a bus in its immense size, Quite comfortable for large German fellows or a family of four Asians!

On closer inspection this scooter oozed quality as German engineering often does and despite the corrosion a lot of parts were complete. The engine had been preserved by a thick layer of crud and oil leaving excellant castings and internals intact, the cylinder despite being a little worn gave excellent compression against the push rod valves and fired up instantly on the bench, inspiration to complete such a daunting project.

Look into my eye and say I'm ugly!
You can't say i'm ugly now.
Every inch of this scooter has been restored, not quite original, but would you paint it battleship grey?
Well Oiled!
